The dark just perfectly grounds all the light & airy white, don't you think? Ok, let's take this look a step further ... trim the lowers in stainless steel frames ... heaven!
This fabulous look has been on my radar for a while now, and I love it. Brian Gluckstein {one of my favorite designers} did a kitchen using this look in this gorgeous penthouse belonging to Elte owners Ken and Renee Metrick:
Amazing right? So what would my dream kitchen have to include?? I'm so glad you asked! If I were designing it right NOW, I'd definitely include steel-trimmed dark lower cabinets, white uppers, a marble waterfall island, and a backsplash slathered in marble as well, so that the over-all look would still be bright. It's a perfect mix of feminine and masculine in my opinion:
Can you picture it?

I've been seeing this a bit lately too. I love that first kitchen the most though! Makes me want to paint my cabinets!
These cabinets are outstanding. The detail with the steel frames adds just the right amount of detail to the space.
Yes, can totally picture it! I love the detail too and your dream kitchen is the perfect mix.
Love the first kitchen. Wish I could find info on the brass hardware. Do you know the source for this kitchen? I know I've seen it before. It's not the same one in the video link though! The one in the video has butcher block counters. Both are great!
Audrey thank you for catching my mistake!! Will change the sources now, I wish I knew the source of the brass hardware but unfortunately I don't!

Audrey I found the source of the hardware! It's from Restoration Hardware. Follow the video or the H&H blog link I added and you will see a complete list of sources! Thanks!!

Such an utterly gorgeous trend and one that in involuntarily enjoy myself! My little apartment has steel framing around every door - subtle but lovely addition to a rental unit!
These images are stunning.

I certainly can picture it and it is pretty stunning! I love the mix of the dark cabinets with white marble which does lighten everything up. And you would have to ask us to make you a custom peony bouquet too :)! Thanks for sharing, Cynthia
So pretty. I love the dark lower cabinets combined with the light upper. Now just add some campaign style hardware and I'm in heaven!
*** Nancy, I saw this not too long ago in a friend's new home, and it was D*Y*N*O*M*I*T*E!!! I LOVED IT ~ KNOW you would TOO!!!
QUESTION: Could you possibly advise me of the MAKER & NAME of TOMMY SMYTH'S white/black "dots or dashes" fabric, as seen in his TOO FABULOUS LR chairs that you posted a while back??? If so, would you mind e-mailing me w/ that info??? I sure would appreciate it!!!(Have looked everywhere... not being a designer, I don't know where to look next!!! MANY THANKS if you can help! I l*o*v*e that fabric!!!)...

wow factor...that Trad Home kitchen..omg! love that~
Interesting. Kind of bringing what is usually associated with vintage desks, filing cabinets etc into the kitchen
Oh, you bum - I was going to post about steel-framed cabinets this week, but you beat me to it! Love the look of these cabinets, and I can totally envision your dream kitchen. Love waterfall islands - I'd definitely have one in my dream kitchen too :-)
Okay Nancy, I'll take one to go! The contrast of the light and dark is too much for me to handle. Slurp.
I like how clean the steel trim makes the kitchens look. A few look a little cold to me though.
