{let's discuss: how do you care for your underthings?}

Happy Tuesday friends!

Today I've got a bit of a confession ... I  often don't treat my bras the way they deserved to be treated. I don't have a special lingerie detergent, and I often *gasp* put my not-so-pretty everyday bras into the regular wash with everything else instead of hand washing! Terrible right? Well I'm due for a few new pieces, and I want to know: how do you care for your delicates and undergarments? Do you have special types or tricks you've learned from others? A brand of lingerie soap you particulary love?  Do you use those lingerie bags for the washing machine? And how do you like to store your bras?

Please share!! I'd love to know your tips ...

**And if you have an extra moment, come by and visit me over at Meg's fabulous blog, Mimi + Meg, where I am sharing my favorite Valentine's Day memory & what I'd love to give and receive on V-day!

That's me & Nick n our wedding day, nearly 5 years ago now!

I hand wash them with savon de Marseille and let them air dry.

I throw them in with the regular wash but all tucked into a pillowcase that is knotted, then hang to dry! Anything silk gets hand washed with shampoo. I use shampoo instead of fancy laundry soap, I can't remember where I read that somewhere that it can be used to wash your delicates!

I don't give mine the best attention as they don't get washed regularly. I know, yuck! But, when I do, I put my bras in a little mesh "case" before throwing them in with everything else so the straps don't get tangled and the cups don't get squashed. Pretty sure if I had a bunch of fabulous bras like those I'd be better about it ;)

I'm the same- do nothing special at all...just throw it all in the wash and my drawer looks nothing like these beautiful inspiration shots- it's a total mess...on my 'one day to do' list- it's a long one:)

I use mesh laundry bags and wash separately on delicate cycle... one per bag keeps them from getting tangled. Then, air dry.

I use mesh laundry bags, wash with other delicates in the machine on 'delicate' cycle, use Woolite, cold temp, and hang them to dry. I used to hang them on a belt hanger in my closet, but now I just have them in a basket. What a fun article, Nancy!

Hahaha... I'm the worst. I throw them in with everything, and it all comes out tangled up in a big mess. I need to throw out every single piece of underwear that I own and start over. It's on my list of things to do for spring!

Good bras are washed on delicate and hung to dry. Not so good bras washed on delicate and dried in dryer. I think the special bags are nice and would use it if I had one. Have fun shopping for new and pretty lingerie! Kathysue

I stick em' in a little delicates bag or like Barbara mentioned, a pillowcase and then put them in the hand wash or gentle cycle and hang to dry. As for having a pretty place to display or even organize them, I throw all my bras in a basket. Just easier to see what I'm grabbing.

I hand wash and hang dry all my nice bras. The others are thrown in the washer but I still hang to dry them all. I place them all in a drawer spread out so they don't get caught in the drawer doors etc...

Oh, thank you for this confession. I shamefully do the same! However, one tip I have which has made all my bras and undies last sooo lnog -- never, ever put them in the dryer. I'll wash them in the washer, but always always hang dry them. It seems to wear them out a lot less!

Hi Nancy,

I have just come across your blog and have been enjoying reading all of your posts.

I had to chime in on this one as my mom has owned the lingerie store, Bare Basics Lingerie for over twenty years. Although most lingerie companies recommend hand washing all intimates, I confess to popping mine in a washing bag on the delicate cycle with a little Forever New Wash. As long as the bras don't go through the spin cycle the wires will stay in good shape. Then hang to dry.

If you are ever in Vancouver or Richmond, please stop by and say hello. My sister, Nicole, runs the Vancouver store. I will tell her to have a mesh bag and a Forever New Wash waiting for you!

I hand wash them and store them in paper boxes from Ikea. It's easier to find the ones I'm looking for and saves me time in the morning or evening if the occasion requires.
For those of you who are planning to reorganize your drawer I started an easy organizing journey on my blog called Baby steps.
