Ok, I think I've come to the conclusion that every interior/fashion designer should have an inspiration board!!
It's the perfect way to assemble images, textures, colors, and patterns physically against each other in the most visual and tactile way possible. An excellent way to keep track of projects, and it's truly a feast for the eyes!
So I think it's official, I NEED a pin board pronto!! {right: the offices at J Crew}.
And if I had a giant design studio, I would go à la tray like the fabulous offices of Betsy Burnham and Kelly Wearstler! A tray can hold all kinds of goodies that you can't quite pin to a board ...

These images make me want to hurry up and organize my home office ASAP! Imagine how wonderful it would be to work surrounded by such visual inspiration!!

Inspiration boards are definitely a trend this year! I love having all your inspration in a visible place like this as every time you look at it you can be inspired.
All the inspiration boards are, uhm, inspiring, but I particularly like the very clean clip board idea. My sister has shown me the way with all her clip boarding. She is one of the most creative, organized people I know.
Nice Post!!
Man, I wish my office looked as good as these! I love the idea of gorgeous images staring at you all day.
Love the inspiration board images you posted. I especially like seeing a colourful, haphazard board over a neat organized desk space.
What a gorgeous array of inspiration boards. I love the look of them. Unfortunately every time I attempt to create one, I seem to get it all sorts of wrong, lol.
I prefer design boards to inspiration boards. There can sometimes be too much going on, and I find it visually distracting. I like to work in a neutral setting, and have small, individual boards (or trays) for each project. That way, the images are harmonious, and provide a clear illustration of the intended design work.
My daughter, on the other hand, uses every inch of space on each of her walls to display her inspirational quotes, memories and images!
Great post, Nancy! I love to see how others get inspired!

It’s always so fascinating looking at other people’s inspiration boards! I think it’s about time I get one myself! Makes the room look creative and vibrant!
If only I had an office, I would love to add a pinboard. These are great images all of which I love. I love that all of the pinboards have a different look to them too.
I am with you on that! I totally need a big board to pin up projects. Although I agree with Wendi. Having each project separated is more practical.
I just LOVE the picture from Lonny!!!
It is useful and very chic! And I would like to have a pinboard too so if I could it would be this one ;)
Love these beautiful, organized ideas! We put up images that inspire us in our creation of glass art - now this has inspired me! ;) Thanks, Nancy! Cheers, Pam
Even though my inspirations change from day to day, I am in love with the idea of zoning my clutter fest into one small area instead of random corners of my mind. Drooling at those floor to ceiling black and white stripe curtains btw!
