The room above is one of my all-time favorites, and I've posted it before, but today I'm looking specifically at that magical mirror. Isn't it fabulous? I've always been drawn to the words stenciled sideways on this antique mirror, and it's oh-so-chic in written in French.
I've found a few more photos of this mirror and room since, and I've tucked them away in my DIY wish-list folder for some time. Don't you think this would be easy to pull off? I just need to find a fab mirror.
Then when I saw a similar project on Made by Girl last week, I got re-inspired to give this a try! I will keep you updated on my mirror hunt :) Any one tried a similar mirror DIY before? Did you used paint or stencil stickers?

What a brilliant idea!
That first image is beautiful and the mirror quite unexpected. A lovely idea, looking forward to your DIY.

Gosh I love this! I'm working on designing my cottage bedroom and this would be great....loving the idea of you using French. I'm thinking Estonian (my family's native language) would be essential! :) Happy long weekend!
Okay how come i've never seen this...going into my dream home folder! thanks for sharing! looking forward to what you come up with!
Absolutely in French...maybe some sweet song lyrics...so cool.
Love it!!! Oh So Fabulous!!
I bought a pack of rubber alphabet stamps and am going to dip them in black paint; that way it will scrape off if I ever change my mind. I haven't done it yet but I'm hoping it will work!
I'm definitely going to give this a try too, Nancy. Are you going to use paint or decals? How do you clean it once the writing is added?
Love the stencil idea, too - gorgeous room! In any language, text looks chic and poetic! Esp nice when an unexpected place! I put a fellow Etsy artist in our 'favourites' of our shop, can't recall her name right now - but you can find it on our Etsy home page: OR DESIGN glassworks; that artist creates text phrases that are lovely and the text can be repositioned and no need to scrape or work hard to remove (no damaging mirrors or walls!)... Will check on her name and write it in another comment - Cheers, Pam

I remember seeing a mirror with writing on it some time ago and I totally forgot about it. I think this is a great reminder.
Thanks Nancy!

Hi girlie, think I have forgotten you? Not a chance? Just a very busy summer Mom. (Right now we are in Oregon on vacation, enjoying the sand dunes and horseback riding on the beach!).
I SO want to see you tackle the quote on the mirror project. I know we all will follow you!
I had a friend come over and write a Dr. Seuss quote on my mirror (thick permanent marker). Turned out great! But her handwriting is also better looking than mine!
Hope your summer is going great.
Love to you.
Mon
I think French too... and I prefer the font used in the French verse as well; looks like old typewriter :-)
