An old library card catalogue!! And this one is in perfect shape (the two missing drawers are just sitting on top). And it feels like such a shame that it is being used to store some yucky stuff when it wants to come home and be loved by me :( So I'm going to keep trying before the condition of the piece goes downhill. What would I do with this piece, you ask? I've seen some lovely inspiration of turning it into a wine cabinet, or storage for all your craft/gift wrap/baubles etc:
And maybe I'd take the legs off, not sure though:

Or just keep the height like this one!
You could even repaint/refinish it:
But I do think that the wood is in such smashing condition that I would leave the finish alone. What would you do with it? Well, for now I guess I'll keep dreaming ...

WOW! Card catalogs are beyond chic...who knew?!:)
I saw a card catalog makeover on a blog last year and have been stalking craigslist for one ever since! No luck. Wonder if anyone would notice you walking out with it one day? :)
I think we are drawn to card catalogues because that is how we used to organize info before computers. It is a relic of simpler times. Well Nancy, I think you need to work on bringing that baby home!!! It would look great in your home office!
lol. As the proud owner of a $20 card catalog which I have yet to do anything with...
I say wear them down....
waaaaayy down...
until they say yes.
Perhaps offer a more stylish solution. People like alternatives....lol

Don't be ashamed if you have to resort to begging... that piece needs to be loved...by YOU!
don't give up! it's amazing and the possibilities are endless :)

Who is saying no? Do they even know who you are and how much PR milage they will get if they let you adopt this beauty?
Be bold. Be brave my friend! I hope you will sign the adopting papers soon.
Warn hugs to you,
Mon
Love it! What a statement piece by itself, but also so practical for so much storage! Very cool.

That card catalogue definitely deserves a prettier home than a biology lab! Keep working on taking it home with you :-) When you do, I think you should keep the finish just as it is. I like how the drawers are slightly different shades of brown - adds some interest and character.
I lust over furniture every day at work as well! I work with the geriatric population and they have some of the most beautiful mid century furniture. And always in perfect condition too!
Oh wow what an amazing piece! Love the endless storage possibilities in these. The wood looks great, I'd polish the pulls a bit, and maybe exchange the lags for tapered ones. Oh the possibilities!! Happy Easter Nancy!
