November's issue of Style at Home is filled with great stuff, and a featured Toronto urban penthouse particularly caught my eye. Designer Sasha Josipovicz filled this home with bold and classic pieces. White walls let the artwork sing throughout, except in the dining room where luxurious Japanese steel blue silk creates a dramatic feel. I love the fresh and classy feel of this space, I could see myself in this lovely penthouse suite any day!
What I think I love most about the gorgeous living room is the restrained pops of saturated color, it is so classy and sophisticated!
After being positively captivated by this space, I was thrilled to read designer Margot Austin's recent blog post for Style at Home. Her post goes through the details of demystifying the styling of this space for a photoshoot. I loved how she broke down exactly how she placed the furniture, changed up the art, added color with flower arrangement, and plumped the pillows to perfection! If you've ever wondered how the experts get those perfectly styled shots, you NEED to read this article, I ate up every word! It was neat to read that often it was just a matter of moving a piece from one room to another, and that many of the homeowners own accessories were utilized for the primping process.
Here's an example before & after from Margot's post, you can see what a difference the art and flowers make in the space, go to her post for all the juicy details!

Very elegant indeed and I love the coffee table and all the colour.
Beautiful sophisticated rooms. And timeless.
i love this penthouse!! gorgeous.
beautiful! I'm all about colot, too :-)
Great blog post. It is a very nice space. I read the styling tips article. I laughed when Margot said she added the pink pillows to the sofa and the bachelor who owned the place was very understanding. Never underestimate a woman's touch I guess!
great- love the second shot

I love this penthouse! Sasha seems to always put together stunning spaces - it's the traditional panel molding on the walls, mixed with the more modern furniture and bright pops of colour that make it feel so current, yet timeless. :)
Sasha's home was just featured on Cityline (not sure what day exactly, I PVR'd it). I love the dark walls in the DR - interesting that on Cityline, he said the small painting above the fireplace is the perfect size, but it was replaced with a larger piece for the photoshoot.
LOVE the bright pops of colour! And the DR chandelier is gorgeous.
I have to check out Margot's post, I'm terrible at photographing rooms!

I agree--the way they used color is beautiful. That article you linked to was really interesting, too. Thanks, Nancy!
I could quite easily move out of my house and in to this penthouse, asap.

I loved that post from Style at Home - it's so cool to see all the secrets! And to know not everything is just that easy!
Happy friday to you!!
I could happily move right in and not change one single thing!
What a beautiful home! I too love the pops of color, and I read the interview with Margot Austin (which I happen to love) and I absolutely loved it too!
